Approved by the State Council, China (Beijing) International Fair for Trade in Services (Abbr. CIFTIS) has been successfully co-hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of PRC and the People's Government of Beijing Municipality for four sessions in Beijing ever since 2012. It has now turned out to be an important platform to spread concepts, link supply and demand, share business opportunities and jointly promote development. In order to keep the influence of CIFTIS brand and promote the development of service trade cooperation between China and foreign countries, the Ministry of Commerce and the Beijing Municipal Government have agreed that the 2017 Beijing International Fair for Trade in Services will be held in China National Convention Center from May 28 to June 1.
There are many favorable policies and opportunities for holding the 2017 Beijing International Fair for Trade in Services. In recent years, China attaches great importance to the development of service industry and service trade, constantly promoting the opening-up of service industry and the innovation of service trade. Last year, the State Council approved to carry out service trade innovation and development pilot projects in Tianjin, Shanghai and other 8 cities as well as in Harbin, Jiangbei and other 3 new districts. This year, the State Council issued "Notice on several measures for further opening-up and active use of foreign capital (Guo Fa  No. 5). These policies further highlight China's determination on further opening-up and create new opportunities for the development of service industry and service trade in each region. As China’s first pilot city of service sector further opening-up, Beijing has made encouraging progress, with 8 kinds of replicable systems and mechanisms of innovation formed, leading to 10 kinds of new formats in finance, tourism, culture, health care, the Internet and information services areas, and will continue to launch new measures for further opening-up of the service sector this year. Under the joint driving force of service sector opening-up and the CIFTIS, service industry and service trade have rapidly developed in Beijing. In 2016, the added value of service industry achieved nearly 2 trillion Yuan, an increase of 7.1% over the previous year, accounting for more than 80% of the local GDP; and the total service trade volume was expected to reach 145 billion dollars, an increase of 10% over the previous year.
