October 17th marks China's 5th national poverty alleviation day when various regions took a variety of measures to alleviate poverty. The poverty-relief agricultural and sideline products exhibition counters erected by Fengtai District and pairing poverty-relief county were unveiled at Beijing Xinfadi. Focusing on the national strategy of "poverty alleviation", the 5th CIFTIS (China Beijing International Fair for Trade in Services) initiated the "Targeted Poverty Alleviation & Community E-commerce Forum" and integrated targeted poverty alleviation and community e-commerce. Directors of Helo, Missfresh, Zhongliang Womai and other famous rural e-commerce platforms gathered here together with domestic scholars and experts to make discussion on the aspects of government work, cutting-edge academics and enterprise exploration and other perspectives in a bid to lead the new development trend for rural e-commerce and boost the implementation of the national strategy.
As an important type of trade in services, "auction" made its second presence at CIFTIS after the 2017 session. The "Targeted Poverty Alleviation & Intellectual Property Special Auction" held during the 5th CIFTIS achieved a total auction volume of RMB 354 million. Among them, the targeted poverty alleviation auction section ended with 100% "White Gloves" turnover, with its turnover to the tune of over RMB 310 million. CIFTIS, acting as a national service platform, is not only employed to promote and show agricultural products from poverty-stricken families but also to find a ready market for poverty-stricken areas to sell their agricultural products through auction in Beijing, thus to facilitate the poverty alleviation work of poverty-stricken areas.
A total of 113 auction items have been displayed in this session including 38 targeted poverty alleviation ones, 40 intellectual property ones and 35 art ones. This auction further focused on the targeted poverty alleviation and intellectual property rights. At the same time, a number of domestic and international excellent art products and masterpieces of national industrial art masters were also exhibited and auction, presenting a good feast for guests and merchants attending CIFTIS.
According to statistics, by the end of April 2018, 785 enterprises eligible to be engaged in auction businesses in Beijing made Beijing rank top in China in both the number and quality of enterprises. The online and offline simultaneous preview and auction forms have also been widely used in the auction market of Beijing.
By virtue of these superior auction resources, futures and spots goods of bulk farm-products from Beijing's counterpart-assistance region Hotan Prefecture of Xinjiang, Chifeng of Inner Mongolia and Lu'an City and Jinzhai County of Anhui Province where General Secretary Xi Jinping made an investigation visit in 2016 all saw successful auctions. Among them, 10,000t mung bean futures from Chifeng of Inner mogolia, the first auction item in the targeted poverty alleviation section were sold at a price of RMB 76 million and a deal was also concluded on 6,250t Luodian red pitaya from south Guizhou after several rounds of fierce bidding at a high price of RMB 100 million.
Yan Ligang, director of Beijing Municipal Commission of Commerce, expressed that it is a very good attempt and exploration to introduce bulk farm-products from many poverty-stricken areas into auctions this year. It is believed that CIFTIS, acting as a national service platform, will be employed not only to promote and show agricultural products from poverty-stricken families but also to find a ready market for poverty-stricken areas to sell their agricultural products through auction in Beijing, thus to facilitate the poverty alleviation work of poverty-stricken areas.
