137 countries and regions, 246 forum meetings and negotiation and trading activities, 165,000 square meters of exhibition and display area, multitude activities at 10 venues... The 2019 China International Fair for Trade in Services ("CIFTIS" for short), themed by "openness, innovation, intelligence and integration", was successfully kicked off on May 28, which enabled people to experience China's further opening-up and high-quality development in a splendid trade in services event.
Embracing the era of service economy
"The service industry is very important to the economy, and high-quality service industry is also crucial to improving the competitiveness of the manufacturing industry," said Ludger Schuknecht, Vice Secretary General of OECD, at the Opening Ceremony of China International Fair for Trade in Services & Global Trade in Services Summit. "The CIFTIS brings us together to promote trade in services and create an environment so that the benefits of digital trade can become a reality for everyone." Ludger Schuknecht's words spoke out the common voice of the participants.
An important platform for further opening-up
As one of the important activities of the 2019 CIFTIS, the 2019 China E-commerce Convention was held in Beijing on May 29. The 2018 E-commerce Development in China released at the convention showed that China realized the transaction volume of 31.63 trillion yuan in e-commerce in 2018, a year-on-year growth of 8.5%; the total volume of cross-border e-commerce imports and exports of 134.7 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 50%. In particular, "Silk E-commerce" has become a new business card for promoting international cooperation and has become a new highlight for bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
Scientific and technological innovation, leading the future
In such special exhibition areas as "Smart City", "Wisdom Health" of China National Convention Center, the application of artificial intelligence, 5G, big data, cloud computing, AI robot and other key fields is centrally displayed on the big screen, allowing consumers to have the opportunity to get close to more and more "seemingly unreachable" artificial intelligence products. Sun Yao, head of the Organizing Committee of the CIFTIS and Deputy Director-General of Beijing Municipal Commerce Bureau, said that the 2019 CIFTIS has fully grasped the development trend of digitalization and intellectualization, extensively applied digital technologies such as 5G and VR in organizing exhibitions and conferences and serving travelling merchants, and will also create a "never-ending" wisdom CIFTIS.
