     The President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, declared that Beijing obtained the right to hold the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games at the 128th IOC Session in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on July 31, 2015! With this, Beijing has become the first “Dual Olympic City” in history.

On July 31 five years ago, Beijing won the competition against Almaty, Kazakhstan to become the host city of the XXIV Olympic Winter Games in 2022, making it the first city that has held Summer Olympics and will hold Winter Olympics. Beijing has been preparing for the Games, one step at a time, over the five years, with “Winter Dream” and “Flying High” showing the oriental culture and the Chinese Dream in the new era, to deliver the passion, youth, and vigor of winter sports to the world. “Beijing eight-minute show” at the Closing Ceremony of the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympic Games was magnificent, manifesting the style of a great nation. The two lovely mascots “Bing Dwen Dwen” and “Shuey Rhon Rhon” sent their New Year’s greetings to all corners of the country during the past Chinese New Year. The competition venues with avant-garde design, the high technology used extensively, and the advanced concept of sustainability planning have filled the world with imagination and anticipation for the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Beijing 2022!

As a solemn commitment made by Beijing to the international community at the time of bidding for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, the World Winter Sports (Beijing) Expo (WWSE) has also entered its fifth year of boosting the rapid development of winter sports and winter sports industry of China.

To take place in China National Convention Center in early September, the WWSE 2020 will continue to be based at the forefront of the global winter sports industry, strengthen international exchanges and cooperation, further strengthen international exchanges and cooperation, stimulate domestic development of ice and snow economy, encourage north-south dialogue on ice and snow, facilitate the strategy of winter sports of "expansion trends toward the south, west and east", fully integrate ice and snow resources, accelerate the coordinated development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Economic Circle and the construction of the Beijing-Zhangjiakou tourism cultural belt, establish WWSE series activities and achieve the implementation and sustainable and healthy development of the winter sports industry through in-depth cooperation and expansion; showcase the latest achievements of the “Technology-equipped Winter Olympics”, and help boost the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.
