The 2021 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTS) will be held from September 2 to 7 at the China National Convention Centre and Shougang Industrial Park in Beijing. With the theme of “Enabling a Digital Future, Driving Development with Services”, this year’s CITIS will set up a digital services zone for the first time. At a recent press conference held by the Ministry of Commerce, Yan Ligang, director of the Beijing Municipal Commerce Bureau, announced that at present, the exhibitor recruitment of the digital services zone is steadily progressing, and 39 well-known domestic and foreign enterprises, such as Amazon, Canon, NEC, Alibaba and BOE, have registered to take part in the exhibition.

Yan said that the global economy is undergoing profound changes, accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic. A new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial change is burgeoning, driving the robust rise of digital technology, promoting the deep integration of industries and leading to the flourishment of the service economy. On September 4 last year, Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered an important speech at the Global Trade in Services Summit of the 2020 CIFTIS, pointing out that we should follow the trend of digital, web-based and intelligent development, actively foster the prosperity of the digital economy and sharing economy, and boost the digitalization of trade in services.
The 2021 CIFTIS will focus on the digitalization of the global economy with meticulous design of activities.
In terms of forums and conferences, it will give full play to its advantages and leading role in innovation, tightly focus on its theme, put emphasis on the digital economy and digital trade, and hold more than 10 forums, including the “Summit Forum on Trends and Latest Developments of Digital Trade”, “Forum on China’s Digital Economy and Industries” and “Forum on Global Procurement and the Sustainable Development of the Digital Economy”.
In terms of exhibition and display, a digital services zone will be set up for the first time. It is in Hall E3 and E4 of the China National Convention Center, with an exhibition area of about 11,000 square meters. Leading domestic and international enterprises in digital services such as 5G, big data, artificial intelligence, blockchain and cloud computing will be invited to showcase the latest progress, achievements and applications in the digital, web-based and intelligent development of global services, so as to facilitate the robust development of digital economy and digital trade.
There will also be eight thematic exhibitions showcasing new business models, patterns and achievements under the new development trend. Beijing will also leverage the opportunity to share its achievements in the research, practice and innovation regarding the digital economy and digital trade as part of the construction of the “two zones” (National Integrated Demonstration Zone for expanding opening-up in the service sector and the China (Beijing) Pilot Free Trade Zone).
The 2021 CIFTIS cordially invites outstanding enterprises in the digital services sector from home and abroad to actively participate in the event so that they can tell their ‘digital stories’ to the whole world.
